TIPS

Ok so you`re in charge of organising the most unforgettable hen weekend ever…panic is setting in! You have no idea where to begin, so many questions to ask and the success of the weekend sitting firmly on your shoulders! Take a deep breath, settle down and follow our simple guide to planning the ultimate hen weekend!

By using Maximise you`ve already reduced the `stress` involved in organising such an event. We are after all the experts, we`ve been to every location we offer, stayed in the hotels, tried out the activities - and know which ones work best together and suit group sizes, we`ve even been kind enough to sample the nightlife - it was a hard job! Follow the simple steps and get ready to collect the praise from your fellow hens.

The Key Decisions

You need to decide where you want to go, what activities you want to try and what the budget is. Not a simple feat we know, but get together with the key members of the weekend - the bride of course and one or two of her closest friends. In our experience getting ideas from the entire group, although sounds like the most democratic approach, just doesn`t work! As long as the bride is happy with the selection, that`s all that matters, it`s is after all her send off.

Where?

Think logistics - where are you and the group based? Is there a middle point that would suit everyone? Do you want to drive to the location or are you happy to involving a flight? Is there a city the hen has always wanted to visit?

What Activities?

Do you want to keep the group amused for the whole day or just part of the day? Are you all adrenalin junkies, want to be pampered for the day or looking for a unique event? Would you like to stick to one activity or have the chance to try you hand at several activities?

The Budget

A difficult one we know, when it comes to money people always get a little funny! Be realistic about what your group have to spend; remember to factor in transport costs and a little spending money for the weekend of course!

The Date

Just like the wedding, once you`ve chosen the date stick to it! Although traditionally a hen night was the night before the wedding, things have changed. Most groups have the hen weekend between two weeks and a month before the wedding, giving everyone enough time to recover!

The Attendees

Speak to the hen; ask her who she would like to attend. Get a general idea of numbers, we don`t need exact numbers at the point of booking, but it is best to be realistic. You may have 40 people on the invite list, but experience shows it wont finish at that number, people will have other commitments, family issues, can`t afford to go, have to work and the list goes on. Send out emails to your potential hens and put some strict deadlines for responses.

You`ve Made The Key Decisions - What Next?

You`ve covered some of the most difficult parts now, so you can breathe a small sigh of relief! So get the ball rolling and get your chosen weekend booked!

Book Early

It`s really quite simple, the earlier you book the weekend the more choices you`ll have. You`ll have the widest range of hotel options open to you; your preferred activities and time slot are more likely to be available. In other words book early and you wont be disappointed!

Get The Money

We`re not going to lie, this is the hardest part of organising a hen weekend! Trying to get money out of some people really is like trying to get blood from a stone! If you`ve booked earlier enough, people can budget for the weekend, so this may not be as hard as you think. But we would recommend setting strict deadlines for when you need to receive all monies by.

Take Out Insurance

Yes we know is boring, but taking out insurance is always the best thing to do. As with any holiday or short break, travel insurance is always essential, whether you have your own insurance or would like to take out the policy Maximise offers, it`s best to make sure you`re covered. It really is money well spend!

And Finally....

Have a fantastic hen weekend, secure in the knowledge you`re in safe hands and when `the hens` are all congratulating you on the best hen weekend they`ve been on, you take the credit - we don`t mind honestly!
